SAN GRATO AND THE PEASANT RELIGIOUSNESS

From Vendrogno, you can take Via per Noceno street and walk up to the mule-track path through the permanent grasslands. After a short walk there, you can take the right to enter the Valle dei Gatti (Cats’ Valley). You can go past the Bonprà farmhouse, in Bongino, cross the route and walk through the magnificent woods.

The path passes by a small chapel where were once took place Liturgies linked to the Rogations for the blessing of fields and crops, until the SP66 route. You can continue until you reach the S. Grato church, who’s been the bishop of Aosta during the 5th century and is today as the countryside protector. The locality is one of those affected by the legend of the seven hermit brothers.

From the cliff it is possible to admire an astonishing view, before returning back on the same path.
