Luciano Lombardi

Luciano Lombardi was born in Stilo on 25 February 1928.

In October 1933, when his father won a public competition to become district doctor for the Bellano-Vendrogno consortium, he moved to the hamlet of Inesio.

After his father’s death in 1955, he too won a competition, but this time for a job at the Military Court where he served, at the Milan headquarters, with the rank of lieutenant. He then moved to Turin where he remained for a short period, and then moved permanently to La Spezia, where he remained until his discharge, reaching the rank of colonel.

A freelance journalist, he collaborated with numerous newspapers and magazines for which he wrote many publications of a historical nature.

His are the subjects of film documentaries such as: Luci di primavera sul Lago di Como, La via dei Lanzichenecchi dall’Adda all’Adda, I fantasmi di pietra del Lago di Como, Madesimo in Valle Spluga, Tommaso Grossi un protagonista del romantismo and Sui sentieri della memoria, broadcast on Swiss television and RAI 3.

A freelance journalist, he collaborated with numerous newspapers and magazines for which he wrote many publications of a historical nature.

Lombardi also wrote several volumes of poetry: Diario 43 – 60, which won the Venice Prize, L’ombra dei giorni, for which he received the Culture Prize, La quercia d’oro, Dimenticherò l’estate and La stella dell’esilio.

He suffered a cerebral stroke on the morning of June 13, 1994, in his house in Bellano, where he lived alone, and he died within 48 hours, leaving a rich documentation, especially historical, and many notes of works just begun and planned.
